Buzzing with Imagination: Meeting Bob-Bee’s Creator

There’s something truly magical about a children’s book that sparks a child’s imagination and helps them grow at the same time. As a mom with little ones, I’m always searching for stories that do both, entertain and teach.

That’s why I was so excited to connect with Morgan Corich, the author of “Bob-Bee Finds Home.” Her new picture book has been creating quite a buzz (yep, pun intended!) among parents and early childhood educators.

    The Story Behind the Bee

Bob-Bee Finds Home” follows the journey of a cheerful little bee who gets swept away from his mom and sister during a sudden gust of wind. As Bob-Bee travels across a farm, landing on different animals and objects, young readers are invited along on his adventure to find his way back home.

What makes this book particularly special is its interactive approach. Morgan designed the story to encourage little ones to guess what happens next, answer simple “WH” questions (where is he now? what did he land on?), and build early language skills naturally through an engaging narrative.

“I wanted to create something that was more than just a cute read,” Morgan explains. “Something that invites interaction, supports speech and language learning, and builds connection between kids and their grown-ups.”

This thoughtful approach comes from Morgan’s background as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, where she’s witnessed firsthand how powerful storytelling can be for children’s development.

A Dream Born from Two Passions

When I asked Morgan about her journey to becoming a children’s author, she shared that it had been a lifelong dream.

“I was always reading, writing, and coming up with little stories—from a young age I had journals filled with incomplete and misspelled stories,” she recalls. “That love for storytelling never went away.”

What’s particularly beautiful about Morgan’s path is how her professional life and childhood passion eventually converged. As a speech-language pathologist, she recognized a need for simple, engaging books that supported early language development in a playful, meaningful way.

“That’s when my dream and my work came together,” she says. “Creating books like this allows me to combine my passion for storytelling with my goal of helping children grow and thrive.”

    The Unexpected Emotional Rewards

One of the most surprising insights Morgan shared was about the emotional aspect of being a children’s author.

“Knowing that something you created sparked a giggle during bedtime, helped a child say a new word, or became a favorite part of someone’s daily routine… that’s incredibly special,” she says. “It’s not just about writing a story. It’s about being part of those little moments that matter in a child’s life.”

As a parent, this resonated deeply with me. Those quiet moments reading with our children often become some of our most treasured memories.

    Literary Influences and Favorites

Like many of us, Morgan’s own love of reading was shaped by childhood classics. “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” with its rhythmic language and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” by Eric Carle were favorites that influenced her approach to storytelling. She also mentioned “Wemberly Worried” by Kevin Henkes and “I’ll Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch as stories that left a lasting impression.

When recommending books for families today, Morgan unsurprisingly suggests her own “Bob-Bee Finds Home,” but also loves “Where’s Spot?” by Eric Hill for its repetitive structure and the “Pete the Cat” series for helping children embrace new experiences.

    Magical Aspirations

I asked Morgan which magical ability from a children’s book she would choose if she could. Her answer revealed yet another layer of her reading history.

“The ability to time travel with baseball cards, like in the Baseball Card Adventure Series by Dan Gutman,” she said without hesitation. “The idea of traveling through time and experiencing history firsthand through baseball cards would be amazing. It’s such a unique way to learn and adventure!”

    The Heart of Bob-Bee’s Journey

At its core, “Bob-Bee Finds Home” aims to foster something all parents want for their children: curiosity, confidence, and joy in learning. The story supports early speech and language development by helping children build vocabulary, practice speech sounds, and improve their ability to answer simple questions.

“I hope it helps grown-ups feel empowered to support their child’s learning through reading,” Morgan adds. “Bob-Bee is meant to invite conversation, repetition, and engagement, whether a child is just beginning to talk or is already putting short sentences together.”

    Finding Bob-Bee

Morgan’s thoughtful approach to storytelling reminds us that the best children’s literature does more than entertain. It connects us, teaches us, and creates those magical moments between parent and child that both will remember long after the book is closed.
